ALTHOUGH NOT A RESIDENT OF OLD WALKERVILLE,DID SPEND 30 YEARS AS THE OWNERS OF WALKERVILLE LUMBER,WHICH WAS ORIGIONALY BUILT BY HIRAM WALKER.
IT WAS LOCATED ON THE NORTH EAST CORNER OF WALKER AND WYANDOTE
TODAY IT IS A VACANT PROPERTY.
NOW WITH SOME 80 YEARS BEHIND,I CAN STILL RECALL THE BUSINESSES THAT EXISTED IN THOSE DAYS,EX” WALKERVILLE BAKERY,CHUCKS FISH AND CHIP SHOP,
    PLEASANT JEWELLERS,WOOLCO,VELVET GRILL,WALKERVILLE MENS SHOP,WALKERVILLE DAIRY,SNOWDENS BARBER SHOP,JAMES MEAT MARKET.

Hi Jim. I would still encourage you to try and make it out to a meeting or event in the future. Whether you’re a resident or a “Friend of the ‘Hood” we would welcome all that you could share with us. The history of our borough is one of our defining elements and one that brings a lot of residents out to become involved in the association. I’m sure you would find many folks who share your history in the neighbourhood (I met a woman at the organization meeting last night who used to work at Big Tony’s in it’s previous incarnations as Walker 917 and the Metropole – great stories!) and many younger residents eager to learn about the history of our community. Watch this website for additional information regarding future meetings and events, and I hope you consider coming out for a few.
