Shane Mitchell (chairperson)
Shane has been an Architectural professional and an armchair urban planner for almost a decade. Fascinated with the city since he was a young boy, Shane travelled across Canada, The United States and Europe. Inspired by the great urban places of the world, he decided to settle with his wife in Walkerville.
A self-proclaimed urbanist, Shane has been dedicated to giving back to his community. Working with the 2012 OWRA board, and the St. Clair Society of Architects, he brought guest lecturer, Charles Marohn of Strong Towns to Walkerville for an evening of urban planning education. Shane worked with Doors Open Windsor to organize the 2012 event that attracted hundreds of visitors to various historic sites across the city.
Shane continues to study architecture and urban planning with the hope of building a better city. He is proud to call himself a Windsorite, and happy to be living in the heart of a vibrant urban neighbourhood.
Denise Deziel (vice-chair)
Denise has lived in the Walkerville neighbourhood since 1986, except for a five year stint from 2004 to 2009. She built a house on Argyle where she lived for 21 years, and now lives in one of the heritage Hiram Walker townhouses. She has witnessed the rebirth of Monmouth Road, the Walkerville Brewery and the development of Wyandotte Street. She believes that the Walkerville neighbourhood is truly unique and wants to be an active contributor to its growth and development. As well, she wants to preserve and build on the vibrant community spirit that defines the character of this Windsor neighbourhood. Having retired from a career in education, she is now on the Board of Directors of the Windsor International Film Festival.

Peter Coady (general director)
Peter is a retired high school teacher who has worked in local ( Windsor and Detroit) theatre and film productions over the years. He is also the past Executive Director of the Windsor International Film Festival.
Kari Gignac (general director)
Kari was raised in Essex County, and attended St. Clair College for Journalism and New Media, and Fanshawe College in London, ON for photography. Currently, she freelances for a community news website while working part time as a wine merchant, and volunteers on several boards in the region, advocating for greater awareness of the many benefits of cycling. Her decision to accept a board position on the Old Walkerville Residents Association is the result of her appreciation for the neighbourhood’s historical value and cultural progressiveness, and she hopes to use her experiences in the past as a volunteer, and her work in the communications field, to promote and implement the mandate of the OWRA.
Olde Walkerville Residents Association 
I have been informed that the windows in the 600 block of argyle are being changed out. I saw a sample that they did in a second floor apartment at argle and cataraqui. They windows are not even close in keeping with the historical look of the building. My understanding they were built in the 20’s and they are what you see coming from the east as soon as you get to the Walkerville area. Is there any board or committee that Medd has to go through to get approval to ensure that they keep in the same historical look that all the other residence are in keeping with????
Hi Cheryl, unfortunately, unless a home is a designated heritage property, nothing can be done to legislate the facade of private homes. There is movement underway towards designating Olde Walkerville a heritage conservation district, but it is a long way off at the moment. The sub-committee who would be working towards determining the OWRA’s position on this disignation would be the Infrastructure and Planning sub-committee, and we’re in the process of setting up our first meeting.
